About the Lake County Managed Medi-Cal Planning and Implementation Group
In 2006, the Lake County Board of Supervisors notified the State Department of Health Services of their intent to transition from the standard Medi-Cal Fee-for-Service program administered by the State of California to a model of managed called a County Organized Health System operated by Partnership HealthPlan of California. Partnership HealthPlan (PHC) is a not-for-profit health plan providing services to Medi-Cal members in the six adjacent counties of Marin, Mendocino, Napa, Solano, Sonoma and Yolo counties. Implementation in Lake County was delayed until this fiscal year.
To assist with the County’s transition to this new managed Medi-Cal program, the Lake County Department of Health Services convened the Lake County Managed Medi-Cal Planning and Implementation Group in September of 2012. The role of the Planning Group is to advise and make recommendations to PHC and the County staff about development of the provider network, member education, coordination with community agencies and a variety of other key tasks related to the transition from fee-for-service Medi-Cal to the County Organized Health System model of managed care.
The Lake County Managed Medi-Cal Planning and Implementation Group held their first meeting on September 14th, 2012 with plans to continue meeting on a monthly basis until program start-up effective June 1st, 2013.
